Nimer’s Notes: EU LCS Week 3 Day 1

I don’t know who you are, but I know why you are here. I can give you what you want, but it comes at a price–you have to read the wisdom I am giving you. That’s not too bad, right?

Let’s get into your fantasy picks for the EU LCS! Today’s matches are great from a storyboard standpoint- we got H2K taking on G2, Roccat’s looking to continue a hot streak, and other teams are facing off near their bracket locations. It’s looking to be a competitive day, but does that mean you have free reign on who to draft?

Caution for Fnatic and Origen

There’s two teams I’d advise against looking into. The first is today’s most expensive team, Fnatic. While the return of Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim has helped, Fnatic still suffers from inconsistencies, and Shalke has kept pace with most of the competition. There might not be a lot of fantasy points for such a high investment. As for Origen, I simply have to repeat the same problem: the team looks like a mess that isn’t going to be nearly consistent enough to justify drafting it.

Roccat Rises

Of the remaining squads, you have a lot of options. Series among the lower tier teams can be good for fantasy points since the play is generally less clean. Unicorns of Love could give up a lot of kills to Vitality, which must be excited for the return of carry top laners so that Lucas “Cabochard ” Simon-Meslet can pop off. Giants’ Son “S0NSTAR” Seung-ik has been performing well recently and could be a cheap cash in for points.

The team you definetly want to build your core around is Roccat. The currently leads the league in total kills (and deaths, mind you), and has proven to be able to fight against some of the best teams in Europe. In particular Choi “Paragon” Hyun-il looks like a stellar choice for top lane. He’s been a surprise in the league and currently has the most kills of all top laners, meaning he has the highest potential fantasy points at his position. You can look to the carry positions of Roccat as well.

Roccat faces Origen, a team that has a penchant for various members getting caught out. Ultimately, it looks like a recipe for Origen to give Roccat plenty of kills and opportunities to fight. If you’re going to have the best chance at winning your fantasy league, Roccat is the best place to start.

That wraps up the notes today! Thanks for paying the price.
