Nimer’s Notes: EU LCS Week 2 Day 1

Welcome back folks to a second week of LCS! Taking a look at Thursday’s games, there’s one series we should avoid, either for unpredictability or predicted low fantasy points, and two games that are appetizing.

Dodge Origen vs Vitality

In case you missed the news, ADC Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou-Napoleon has stepped away from competitive League of Legends indefinitely. Origen’s answer is to have Enrique “xPeke” Cedeño Martínez play at the recently vacated role. It sounds terrible on paper, and we have no idea how this is going to play out. Furthermore, Vitality is back to having low kills and deaths per minute, meaning they’re not hot for fantasy points in any regard. The two together tell us that we should stay well away from this series.

Look into Literally Every Other Game

Fortunately for us, the matches today have a lot going in terms of fantasy potential! There’s some clear winners, like G2 taking out Roccat and H2K beating Giants, so we look to those two teams for easier carry pickups. The only thing to mention is that G2 could very cleanly close the game out with few kills, a trend that’s happened in both of its series so far. Since they are the second most expensive team today. Investing that much of your salary for few points isn’t worth it. H2K, on the other hand, has been scrappier and shakier, so there’s more points possible. Of course I could be wrong, but these teams are going to be luxury picks.

As for a cheaper alternative, definitely look into Unicorns of Love vs Fnatic. They’re affordable, and have been decent for fantasy points. I give the edge to Fnatic to win the series, but it’s possible that UOL takes a game off of them. You should definetly look into Martin “Rekkles” Larsson and Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten for an AD and Mid. Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim would be another phenomenal pickup, since he has a high kill participation of 81 percent. That along with the fact Fnatic currently sits at the league for kills can mean a lot of value out of that pick.

Shalke 04 vs Splyce is another series to look at, though be aware that Fnatic players are cheaper than Shalke. Still, you could look into Berk “Gilius” Demir for a jungler in case you hit a roster limit with Fnatic, or can’t afford more expensive junglers. Shalke has some of the fewest deaths in the league with many kills concentrated on Hampus “Fox” Myhre. That’s a solid flex pick to have in conjunction with Febiven.

That wraps up today’s notes! Now get out there and draft!
